School Council (2025-2026)
“Parents play a vital role in the development and education of their children and in the success of schools. Study after study has shown us that student achievement improves when parents play an active role in their children’s education, and that good schools become event better schools when parents are involved.” (Ontario Ministry of Education)
Our School Council is a dedicated and caring group of parents, school staff and community representatives who work together to enhance our students’ learning experiences and strengthen our school community. School Councils are an important part of our school communities. The focus of a school council is to imporove student learning, achievement and well-being and enhance the accountability of the education system to parents.
School Council is an advisory role committee only; the ultimate responsibility for the adminstration and day-to-day school operations rests with the Principal. School Council is a channel to address issues affecting all, or a significant portion of the school population. It is a group with a shared interest in working together with parents, students, community members, staff and administration to build a strong school community.
Meetings
For the 2025-2026 school year, School Council meets the first Monday of the month from 7:00 to 8:30 pm using a hybrid model allowing community members to attend either in person at the JFC library or virtually through this link provided by the school.
Meeting dates for the remainder of this school year are:
- Monday, May 4, 2026
- Monday, June 1, 2026
All parents and guardians are welcome to attend and are encouraged to get involved even if you’re only able to come once!
At each meeting, we get an update from teachers and school administration on what is happening at the school and discuss items for continuing to build a sense of community, focus on student learning and promote an inclusive environment. School Council organizes events and fundraisers for the school community.
