Dear JF Carmichael Public School Families,

I am writing to inform you of an incident that happened in our school this afternoon. We evacuated the school after an unexpected fire alarm. The safety of our students and staff is most important to us.

Everyone followed our fire drill procedures and quickly evacuated the building to the designated waiting area. Students were outside for about half an hour until the Fire Department cleared us for safe re-entry. We are very proud of our students’ calm and orderly response to this unexpected fire alarm. I thank them for the way they handled this situation.

The Fire Department found an issue with the alarm system and we have repaired the fault. We are sorry for the inconvenience your child(ren) have experienced today. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact me at 519-578-8450.
