The purpose of this memo is to outline expectations for the March 7, 2014 PD Day.

Elementary Teachers

March 7, 2014 is an unpaid day for elementary permanent contract teachers.

Please note March 7, 2014 remains a working PD day for all other staff including elementary LTO teachers.

LTO Teachers

March 7, 2014 is a paid Professional Development Day for LTO Teachers.  The theme for this day is focused on assessment and evaluation practices.  Suggested activities include self-directed work focused on assessment, evaluation and planning. Part-time LTO’s with a FTE of less than full-time, must calculate the amount of time which is to be applied to their attendance on Professional Development Days.

Para-Professionals

All Paraprofessionals, both secondary and elementary, are expected to participate in mandatory professional development training hosted by the EAA Association at Bingemans located at 425 Bingemans Centre Drive, Kitchener.

Designated Early Childhood Educators (DECE)

Extended Day Program Designated Early Childhood Educators will be required to work at their site and provide programming for students. Core Designated Early Childhood Educators will also be scheduled to work in an Extended Day Program.  A schedule will be circulated prior to March 7, 2014.   A PD opportunity for all DECE’s will be coordinated and communicated by DECE Supervisors prior to March 7, 2014.

Supervision Monitors (SMACA)

SMACA employees are not required to work on March 7, 2014. The employee timesheets are to reflect March 7, 2014 as a day ‘without pay’.  Members are asked to direct any questions to their SMACA Executive.

Communication

Schools are required to:

  •             Share the March 7, 2014 PD Day agenda with the School Council Chair

•           Post the March 7, 2014 PD Day agenda in the main office and on their WEB page
