Dear Cougar Parents,

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the Vice Principal of J.F. Carmichael Public School.  I am honored to be in this position, and am looking forward to assisting Mr. Burnley, and our fantastic staff, in making this a great school year.  I truly believe that JF Carmichael is “A Great Place to Learn”.

I am entering my eighteenth year in education. I began my teaching career as an ESL teacher for two years in Japan, followed by fifteen years as a classroom teacher and one year as a technology instructional coach in Upper Grand District School Board. I feel very fortunate to be expanding my role in education with the Waterloo Region District School Board and more importantly as a member of the J.F. Carmichael community.

The elementary school years are important and critical times for students. What happens during these years will have a lasting impression on their growth and development. My goal as Vice Principal is to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment that is safe, respectable and equitable, in order for your child to receive the best possible academic instruction. I am confident that our school will continue to be a place where our students can learn and grow academically and socially.

Respect, Responsibility and Right Choices define the “The Cougar Way” here at J.F. Carmichael. You can be assured that I will uphold these values personally, as your Vice Principal.

I look forward to meeting you and thank you in advance for welcoming me into this remarkable learning community. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Respectfully,

T. Scott

Vice Principal
